Scientists estimate a magnitude 7.2 earthquake could occur around 2058, though the possibility of it happening sooner cannot be ruled out. If it does, as much as 40% of Metro Manila could be affected.This sobering reality is the driving force behind Oplan Metro Yakal Plus, MMDA’s disaster response framework for a worst-case earthquake scenario—an initiative that Globe is now actively supporting through this partnership.Connectivity When It Matters MostFor Globe, disaster preparedness goes beyond restoring signal bars on phones—it’s about enabling communication when it can save lives.“This milestone agreement with the MMDA underscores our shared commitment to safeguarding lives and keeping communities connected when it matters most, especially in moments when connectivity can mean the difference between safety and peril.
